Iran boosts trade turnover through customs of Mazandaran Province

Iran's foreign trade turnover through the customs of the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) increased by 31 percent in terms of value and 2 percent in terms of volume, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director-General of Mazandaran Province Customs Office, Ali Yousefimanesh said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to him, the country’s foreign trade turnover through the province's customs for 7 months amounted to about 2 million tons worth about $811 million

Yousefimanesh also added that about 514,000 tons of goods worth about $158 million were exported through the Mazandaran Province's customs in 7months. The exports increased by 43 percent in terms of value and 22 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Iran exported 77,500 tons of goods worth $65.1 million to Iraq, 153,000 tons worth $33.8 million to Russia, 125,000 tons worth $11.9 million to Kazakhstan, 115,000 tons worth $10.9 million to Turkmenistan, and 7,000 tons worth $3.84 million to Afghanistan through the customs of Mazandaran Province,” he said.

According to the director general, the exported goods were mainly cement, minerals, white oil and crude oil, dairy products, wood materials, rubber, various food stuffs, paper, various metals and etc.

Yousefimanesh stressed that moreover, 1.5 million tons of goods worth about $653 million were imported through the customs of Mazandaran Province over seven months, which is an increase of 28 percent in terms of value, while a decrease of 4 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The director general noted that main imported goods through the province’s customs were animal feed, various cooking oils, wheat, petroleum coke, paper, equipment and spare parts, chemicals.

"So, Iran imported 581,000 tons of goods worth $272 million from Russia, 312,000 tons worth $126 million from the UAE, 290,000 tons worth $97.8 million from Kazakhstan, 103,000 tons worth $50.3 million from Turkey, 42,000 tons worth $37.4 million from Turkmenistan through the province’s customs.

Furthermore, 78,000 tons of goods worth $86.1 million were transited through Mazandaran Province’s customs in 7 months. This is an increase of more than 100 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Yousefimanesh said.
