BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.24. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will share its initial findings on small business act (SBA) assessment in Azerbaijan in spring, Trend learned from the OECD.

The organization said Azerbaijan is currently participating very actively in the fourth cycle of the small business act (SBA) assessment for the Eastern Partner Countries (SME Policy Index 2024).

“The assessment monitors and evaluate policies in support of SMEs across 12 dimensions, including “SMEs in a green economy”. It builds on previous rounds carried out in 2012, 2016, and 2020, which resulted in dedicated publications. This cycle benefits from an updated assessment methodology, which will broaden the scope of the analysis to cover new topics, such as policies for SME digitalisation and the responses to the COVID-19 crisis. In this context, the OECD is planning an in-country reconciliation mission in Baku in spring to share initial findings of the SBA assessment and to offer a platform for participants from the public and private sector to comment and share their views regarding future priorities for SME development in the country. Preliminary scores and recommendations will be presented in early summer and the launch of the report is foreseen for end 2023/early 2024,” said the OECD.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development is an international organization that works to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being for all.

Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, it works on establishing evidence-based international standards and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, OECD provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.
