Iran's non-oil exports to African countries plummet

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9. Iran’s non-oil exports to African countries decreased by 73 percent in value and 59 percent in volume, during the first 3 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same in the last year, member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian-African Businessmen's Club Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.

According to Latifi, Iran exported a total of 327,000 tons of non-oil products worth approximately $123 million to the African countries in 3 months.

Latifi added that Iran’s goods were exported to 36 out of 54 countries of the African continent for the reporting period.

“Within 3 months, Iran mainly exported non-oil products worth approximately $56.3 million to Ghana, $27.3 million to the Republic of South Africa, $8.65 million to Tanzania, $8.25 million to Somalia, and $7.63 million to Kenya,” he said.

The official also pointed out that Iran mainly exported iron and steel products worth $60million, urea worth $25 million, bitumen worth $15 million, food products worth $11.5, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth $2.7 million, and construction materials worth $1.5 million to African countries for the reporting period.

Meanwhile, Iran exported a total of 2.45 million tons of non-oil products worth $1.18 billion to African countries over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

Overall, Iran exported 35.5 million tons of non-oil products worth $12.5 billion within the first three months of the current Iranian year.

This is a decrease of 8.84 percent in value, while an increase of 24.4 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
