Iran's imports from African countries shrink

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9. Iran’s imports from African countries decreased by 27 percent in value and 28 percent in volume, during the first 3 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, member of the international and foreign trade committee of the House of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran and Deputy Chairman of the Iranian-African Businessmen's Club Rouhollah Latifi said on social media, Trend reports.

The official noted that Iran imported over 13,800 tons of goods worth approximately $17.3 million from the African countries within the mentioned period.

Latifi said that Iran imported goods from 17out of 54 countries of the African continent in 3 months.

According to him, Iran mainly imported goods worth $6.63 million from the Republic of South Africa, worth $2.17 million from Tanzania, worth $1.91 million from Ghana, worth $1.76 million from Congo, and worth $1.66 million from Kenya for 3 months.

Latifi also added that Iran mainly imported food products, including fruit juices, coffee, tea, etc. worth approximately $6.86 million, manganese worth $2.81 million, and rubber materials and car spare parts worth $2.2 million from African countries during the reporting period.

Iran imported about 92,900 tons of goods worth $95.3 million from African countries over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

Overall, Iran imported 9.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $14 billion within the first three months of the current Iranian year.

This is an increase of 5.79 percent in value and 1 percent in volume compared to the same period in the last year.
