Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 20 / Trend , E.Ismayilov /
Azerigaz plans to build new gas-distribution lines as part of a program to develop the gas system in Baku in 2009-2013, Azerigaz President Alikhan Melikov said on Jan. 20.
"We are currently planning to lay major transport and distribution lines in new areas so residents can design and lay gas infrastructure in their apartments at their own expense," Melikov said.
The gas-supply process will continue throughout the country until 2013.
"Villages in Baku and other regions will be provided with gas lines," he added.
Baku's gas-distribution system is outdated. The system was established 60 years ago and must be renovated by 2013.
The program involves gas supplies to villages outside Baku, upgrading the city's gas-distribution system and providing gas consumers with counters.
