Ekol CJSC to produce sorbent in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani-Uzbek Alliance will produce the first sorbent in Azerbaijan in late summer and early autumn, Director General of Ekol muhendislik xidmetleri (engineering services) Soltan Aliyev who is the participant of the alliance said. The produced sorbent will be used for cleaning oil-contaminated land and drying oil pool in the Azerbaijani oil fields.

"On June 15, installation necessary for the sorbent production will arrive in Azerbaijan and their installation will begin. The first sorbent will be produced in August and September," Aliyev said.

Aliyev said the new equipment will be installed at the specially allotted areas of the JSC. The licensed equipment of the Uzbek Ekonordragmet company, which is the second party at the previously created the alliance, will be brought to produce the sorbent. All necessary equipment, in accordance with the agreement, will be brought and installed by the Uzbek company.

Sorbent will be produced in line with demand and needs, as, despite the low weight, sorbent occupies large areas. "The production and storage is not considered appropriate," Aliyev said.

In late February, the Azerbaijani JSC Ekol and Uzbek Ekonordragmet signed a contract in Baku to establish a joint alliance for the sorbent production. The agreement was signed during the visit of the Uzbek side to Azerbaijan.

Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri was co-founded in March 2006 to solve ecological problems in Absheron by: SOCAR (51 percent) and Lancer S.A. Services (49 percent).

The Joint Uzbek-British enterprise "Ekonordragmet" wad registered at the Uzbek Justice Ministry on Feb. 15 in 2006.
