The Baku-based oil refineries, part of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) - the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery Plant (formerly Azerneftyanacag), and Azerneftyag refined about 2 mllion tons of oil, compared to 2.6 milion tons of the previous year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, production of oil bitumen grew by 28.4 percent in January-May 2009. Production of other oil products dropped.
