Azerbaijan, Baku, June 18 / Trend , E.Ismayilova/

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) owned Oil Refining Named after Heydar Aliyev is introducing a new computer management system on the coking rigging, which was planned to finish before the end of the year, a source from SOCAR said. The work on installation the system was commenced last year.

The system will ensure the reliability of management, operations, security and strict performance of manufacturing operations.

The coking system is needed for petroleum coke, production of additional light oil from heavy residues.

Previously the plant had received virtually all of the necessary equipment for this process from the American Honeywell

Honeywell provides technology and equipment for automation and industrial facilities. The automation system of this company is set up in 12 of the 13 largest oil refineries in Russia.

According to the source, the use of computer system at other plants - Catalytic reforming - is not underway for this year. Work on installation of the system postponed to 2010.

Installation of catalytic reforming is necessary for the catalytic processing of petroleum fractions under pressure to obtain high-octane gasoline, aromatic hydrocarbons and hydrogen gas.

There are two refineries in Azerbaijan named after Heydar Aliyev and Azneftyag. The first refinery produces light petroleum products, and the second - the dark petroleum products. The total capacity of two oil refineries is 20 million tons a year.

Refineries are part of the SOCAR, which annually processes about six million tons of oil extracted in the onshore and offshore fields at their own expense.
