Azerbaijan, Baku, July 21 / Trend /

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to daily produce around 1,000 tons of oil from the Oil Rocks-1887 platform in the field of the same name in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR reported on July 21. A total of 36 wells will be drilled from five-unit platform launched in 2006.

Thus, SOCAR has put a next well into exploitation in this platform. Some 67 tons of oil is daily produced from this well with a 2,430-2,437 depth.

The Oil Rocks field is the first field on which Azerbaijan began to produce oil in the sea.

These measures are taken under order of President of Azerbaijan on increasing output from Oil Rocks oil and gas production from 812,000 tons of oil up to 1.2 million tons (1.5 times).

According to estimates of SOCAR geologists, the residual amount of oil at the Oil Rocks is 30 million tons. SOCAR will drill 78 new wells to increase oil production at the field until 2010.
