New oil and gas operating company established in Azerbaijan

Anshad Petrol has been liquidated and transferred to the Neftchala operating company following the updating of a contract to develop the Nefchala, Hilli, Durovdaga and Babazan onshore fields, as well as the production-sharing agreement on the southwest wing of the Mugan monocline. Anshad Petrol was engaged in developing these deposits, the company said today.

Anshad Petrol has been liquidated and transferred to the Neftchala operating company following the updating of a contract to develop the Nefchala, Hilli, Durovdaga and Babazan onshore fields, as well as the production-sharing agreement on the southwest wing of the Mugan monocline. Anshad Petrol was engaged in developing these deposits, the company said today.

Parliament ratified the new oil contract May 22, 2009. The contract was signed between SOCAR with a 51-percent stake, Rusneft Neftchala Investment Limited with 31.85-percent stake and Malaysian Land and General Berhad with a 17.15-percent stake.

Anshad Petrool suspended operations Oct. 5. Process to cancel the company began Oct. 28. The liquidation process is underway and will take two months to complete, the company reported.

Anshad Petrol was established in 1993 by SOCAR and Turkish Atilla Dogan Petrol on the basis of the former Neftchalaoil. Malaysian Land and General Berhad bought 17.15 percent of Atilla Dogan Petrol's shares and became a partner in 1995.
