The issue of supplying Belarusian oil refineries with Kazakh oils needs a detailed approach, Daniyar Tiesov, KazMunayGaz CEO for Oil Refinery and Marketing, told Trend .

"Theoretically, Kazakh oil supply to Belarusian oil refineries is possible. However, from a specialists' viewpoint, to achieve a positive solution the issue needs a detailed approach and calculations," Tieseov said. He was commenting on a recent statement of Kazakh Ambassador to Belarus Anatoly Smirnov.

Tiesov said that deciding on the crude supply to Belarusian oil refineries requires exact calculations, which should show whether it is profitable for Kazakhstan.

"We should defend our interests and should look at this issue through the prism of an ordinary economy, pragmatically. If it turns out profitable, we will probably go to these oil refineries. For the time being, we have not discussed in detail the issue with our Belarusian counterparts in term of its practicability," Tiesov said.

BELTA news agency reported recently that Smirnov said that Kazakhstan is prepared to supply the Belarusian oil refineries with the necessary amount.

Establishing a customs union opens new opportunities for transporting Kazakh oil to Belarus and EU countries, the diplomat said.

BELTA quoted the diplomat as saying: "No one has refused this idea and it has been reflected in all Belarus-Kazakh documents. In particular, the issue was discussed during mutual visits of the premiers of the two countries and talks between the presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan."
