The Italian Eni has offered the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) participation in a project to transport 6.8 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan, a senior SOCAR representative said. The project envisages the transportation of compressed gas across the Caspian Sea by ship.
The source said Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated its readiness to provide its infrastructure on favorable conditions for gas transit through its territory.
"They [Eni] want not only to transport gas through Azerbaijan, but also to implement this project together with us," the source said.
Previously the parties agreed to explore a range of issues under this project, in particular, technical, legal and commercial issues in the framework of a SOCAR- Eni working group.
