American company prepares feasibility study on SOCAR's centre for waste recycling

The American Company MI LLC, which previously won the tender for the reconstruction of SOCAR's centre for waste recycling and establishing waste management system in Baku, is now preparing a feasibility study on the project, SOCAR ecology department reported.  

According to the report, to implement work on feasibility studies, a representative of MI LLC, together with local experts, examined the territories of certain departments and enterprises to benefit from the experience and existing technologies of company operating in Azerbaijan in the field of waste management.

The representative of MI LLC and local experts visited the Tamiz Shahar JSC, a national center for hazardous waste management and landfill "Sarandzha" of BP Company.

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and American Company MI LLC signed a contract for the preparation of a feasibility study for the reconstruction of SOCAR's centre for waste recycling and establishing waste management system in Baku on May 20.
The document was signed by SOCAR vice-president on ecological issues Soltan Aliyev, MI vice-president Sven Maikranz.

Within preparation of the feasibility study it is envisaged to choose appropriate technologies for processing depending on the amount of waste formed as a result of activity of SOCAR's enterprises.

Operations on the project of waste management system of SOCAR and reconstruction of the centre for waste recycling are realized within the grant agreement signed between SOCAR and U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) worth $572,000. The agreement was signed August 13 in 2009.
