Azerbaijan to demolish illegal buildings
Azerbaijan, Baku, July 20 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /
Roughly 400-500 illegal buildings will be razed near power transmission lines in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Scientific and Research Project Energy Institute Director Nurali Yusifov said July 20.
"There is no alternative, as these buildings interfere with the normal functioning of the country's energy system and impede the process of servicing high-voltage power lines," Yusifov said.
Earlier, Azerenergy conducted monitoring to clarify the number of illegal buildings in the zone.
The company's President Etibar Pirverdiyev said earlier that the number of illegal constructions in the zone "is in the thousands."
In early February, poor weather conditions affected the electricity supply of high voltage power lines. They showed weaknesses in the electricity system.
