Iran's gasoline consumption has dropped by 3 million liters per day this Iranian calendar year, which started March 21 2010 despite 750 new vehicles' joining the navigation fleet, Shana quotes managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Farid Ameri.
Addressing the tenth specialized assembly of the oil industry managers and oil reporters, Farid Ameri said from early year to Dec. 11 average daily gasoline consumption hit 63 million liters, which is 3.1 million liters less compared to the corresponding period last year.
He added decrease in gasoline consumption intensified during the first 20 days of Azar (November 22 to December11) reaching 60 million liters per day, which is 3.5 million liters less compared to similar period last year.
After the implementation of the targeted subsidies bill on gasoline prices, NIOPDC's managing director noted that the Petroleum ministry was ready to supply gasoline based on ratified prices noting all the gas stations across the country are being prepared to supply gasoline in accordance with the price determined by the government.
However he remarked the final decision on fuel prices has not announced yet but the gas stations are ready to continue oil product supply whether based on current prices or a multi price system.
'The stored gasoline in smart cards up to the end of Aban month on November 21 amounted to 681 million liters while the figure hit 2 billion liters at the same period last year,' Farid Ameri said.
He said according to the government decisions, despite the implementation of the targeted subsidies bill unused gasoline in the smart cards would be offered based on 1,000 IR rial (about 10 cent).
