Iran delivers first home made drilling tower

Iran's first home made drilling tower will be delivered to southern oil fields in Ahvaz , Fars News Agency reported quoting Managing Director of National Iranian Drilling Heydar Bahmani as saying.

Iran will apply the 152 feet tall drilling tower in land excavations and deliver it to Shiraz city on Thursday , the 5,000 horse power tower is to be immediately sent to Ahvaz for oil field in egion of Ahvaz - Maron, he said

The Defense industry company "Fajr- e Shiraz" built the tower under management of National Iranian Drilling Co.

The tower has the capacity to drill to a depth of 6,000 meters and it passed the primary tests. While all the production process is done by Iranian engineers.

The Iranian official estimated tower production costs was less than $20 million, a profitable figure comparing to it's foreign types .

Despite western sanctions, Iran has managed to design and produce main parts of drilling tower.

The United States and European Union sanctions imposed since the summer of 2010 against the Islamic republic, especially targeting its oil sector, due to its disputed nuclear program.

Iran has OPEC's second-highest oil output, and ranks second in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after Russia.
