EU considers Kazakhstan as reliable place for its investments

On the initiative of the European Commission there has been held a meeting of Kazakh Vice Minister of Oil and Gas Berik Tolumbayev with Head of the EU Commissioner's Cabinet for Energy Michael Koehler in Brussels, Kazinform reported.

The sides discussed the state and prospects of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the European Union on the issues of energy.

Tolumbayev emphasized that over 20 years of independence Kazakhstan reached significant results in development of the oil and gas sector. The measures of the country's leadership allowed to create a favorable investment climate.

Characterizing relations with Kazakhstan, the Head of the EU Commissioner's Cabinet for Energy outlined that the country is one of the main and more developed partners of the European Union in the Central Asian region. The dynamics of relations growth in the field of energy resources demonstrate interest of the European companies to invest in Kazakhstan's energy sector.

"The EU is open for a dialog with Kazakhstan, and we see a lot of promising directions of cooperation, considering your country as a reliable place for the European investments," Michael Koehler said.

In the European representative's opinion, the visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Brussels in autumn, 2010, gave great impetus to energy cooperation with Kazakhstan. "We are interested in proposals of the Kazakh Head of State and open for a joint dialog for implementation of joint programs," Michael Koehler added.
