Numerous projects implemented jointly by Azerbaijan and Turkey in economic and energy areas promote the development of the whole region, Ismail Safi, a member of Turkish Grand National Assembly and a member of the PABEC (Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation) said.

"Joint projects between Azerbaijan and Turkey promote the economic cooperation of the two countries, which promote the development of the whole region," Safi said to Trend over the telephone.

Safi noted that Azerbaijan's big investment in Turkish energy sector indicates economic power and development of Azerbaijan.

One of the major projects is SOCAR's last investment of $5 billion in Izmir country, which will bring a great capital to both countries and will increase investment abilities of Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan will become a country without participation of which no regional project is planned" Safi said.

Safi noted that a package of gas agreements, signed between two countries in October, allow the implementation of South gas corridor projects.

"Azerbaijan and Turkey will play an important role in ensuring the European energy security, which once again proves the political and strategic power of these countries," Safi said.

Safi noted that PABEC intends to expand the cooperation with Azerbaijan, and that the Assembly is discussing important projects on cooperation with Baku.
