A TPP-3 plant that will supply the city with heating and electricity will be built at Kazakh Semey, the mayor of the city Aybek Karimov told Trend on Thursday.
"This year we will attract investments for a new TPP-3 building. We will use the land in the Vostochniy Township. Having built such an important building, we will give serious impetus to the development of the whole area. Most importantly this heat source will generate electricity and ultimately cover a growing shortage of electricity in our region," he said.
At present time Semey consumes about 130 MW of electricity. TPP-3 will produce more than 200 MW. The construction of the plant will be supported by the government with the assistance of German investments.
