Kazakhstan is interested in oil swap operations with Iran, the first vice president of national oil company 'KazMunaiGas' Daniyar Berlibayev reported to journalists in Bucharest on Thursday.
"Due to sanctions we are currently not able to conduct such operations. But we are still interested in operations ", he said.

In Berlibayev's words, before international sanctions Kazakhstan and Iran performed swap of 3.5 million tons of oil.

Restriction on import of Iranian oil to EU countries came into effect since July 1. EU has already imposed sanctions to cut import of Council of Iranian Oil and oil and chemistry production.

The sanctions regarding all new contracts came into force immediately. An exception was made on acting agreements till July 1.

USA, Israel and a number of western countries suspect Iran in development of nuclear weapons under cover of peaceful nuclear program. Teheran denies all claims, stressing that its nuclear program is implemented with exceptionally peaceful intentions.
