Black Sea Terminal LLC of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has completed the construction of a trestle in Kulevi (Georgia) for receiving hydrocarbons from sea tankers, a message posted on the official website of the company said.

Previously the terminal was only able to load the tankers, however, the new infrastructure will also allow it to receive products from the sea and this will increase its transshipment volume, according to the company's message.

The trestle's project was developed by SOCAR's design institute.

The import facility is comprised of the import trestle for the unloading of 10 tankers, pipelines for transporting various products and other systems required for the import operations.

The preparation work on commissioning the facility is underway.

The terminal in Georgia's Kulevi was commissioned in May 2008 and the oil transshipment started in June of the same year. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million metric tons of bulk-oil cargo per year, three million metric tons of oil, three million metric tons of diesel fuel and four million metric tons of fuel oil.

The total capacity of the terminal's tank farm is 320,000 cubic meters with the possibility of reaching 380,000 cubic meters.
