Azerbaijan increases gas supply to Turkey

Azerbaijan supplied 4.84 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Turkey in January-September 2016, as compared to 4.4 bcm in the same period of 2015, Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority said in a report posted on its website Nov. 24.

Azerbaijan supplied 6.17 bcm of natural gas to Turkey in 2015, as compared to 6.07 bcm in 2014.

The report said that in January-September 2016, Turkey imported 32.97 bcm of gas, of which 27.4 bcm were supplied via pipelines, while 5.57 bcm accounted for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Some 14.7 percent of the total volume of Turkey's gas import accounted for Azerbaijan in January-September 2016.

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan via the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). The country has a contract for purchasing 6.6 bcm of gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field annually.
