President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law according to which producers of energy from renewable sources (RES) receive tax benefits, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

"Renewable energy producers are exempt from property tax for renewable energy sources installations and from land tax on the areas occupied by these facilities (with a nominal capacity of 0.1 MW or more) for a period of ten years from the moment they are put into operation," reads the message.

Plant manufacturers are exempted from paying all types of taxes for a period of five years from the date of their state registration, and consumers of "green" energy in residential premises are exempted from paying land tax and property tax on individuals for a period of three years, provided that they are completely disconnected from existing energy networks.

Responsibility for scientific, technical and innovative support of the production of renewable energy sources installations is assigned to the state and economic management bodies, which shall cooperate with the Academy of Sciences.

The Ministry of Energy is named a specially authorized state agency in the field of using renewable energy sources .

The document states that renewable energy sources are the energy of the sun, wind, heat of the earth (geothermal), natural movement of water flows and biomass, which are naturally restored in the environment.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Energy Sherzod Hadzhaev said that about 25 solar power plants will appear in Uzbekistan until 2030.
