Forty important large-scale gas projects will be commissioned in Iran during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), said Iranian Deputy Petroleum Minister and Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hassan Montazer Torbati, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

According to him, gas pipelines will be laid in several Iranian provinces. The commissioning of a number of gas transportation stations in northwestern Iran will boost Iran's gas exports.

At the same time, it is planned to increase gas production at the South Pars Gas Complex.

The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s biggest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. It is estimated that the field has 51 million cubic meters of gas reserves and that it is possible to extract 36 trillion cubic meters of gas.

Iran extracted 610 million cubic meters of gas daily from this gas field in 2018.
