In August 2019, 2.14 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in Azerbaijan, which is 10.5 percent or 200 million kilowatt-hours more compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the country's energy operator Azerenergy.
According to Azerenergy, export of electricity also increased.
In August 2019, 166.3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were exported to neighboring countries, while in August 2018 this figure was 72.2 million kilowatt-hours.
Of the total export volume, 158.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were exported to Georgia.
The main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan is Azerenergy.
The capacity of the country's generating system is 7,172.6 megawatts, which makes it possible to generate about 24 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
