Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company (KOGPC) in Ahvaz district of Iran’s Khuzestan province has commissioned a flare gas recovery system, Gholamreza Mofidi, the company’s managing director, said at the system’s launching ceremony, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

Mofidi said that the commissioning of this system prevented the daily flaring of 10 million cubic feet (about 283,000 cubic meters) of gas together with oil, adding that the system will also help to prevent environmental pollution.

“As much as 15 billion rials (about $357,000) have been spent on the creation and commissioning of this system,” Mofidi said.

The director noted that the system was designed and commissioned by experts from the National Iranian South Oil Company and the KOGPC.

“The company is ready to cooperate with other oil companies in the design, manufacture and installation of such systems,” Mofidi added.
