Iran announces number of generators to be produced on basis of OHVG

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend

Iran will produce 85 units of Micro-CHP (Micro combined heat and power) generator engines based on OHVG (Overhead valve engine ohv gas-based engine technology) gas fuel in the first production year and the production of engines will increase in the coming years, said Jaber Neshati, head of the Energy and Environment Campus of Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI), Trend reports citing official website of Iran's National Oil Company.

According to Neshati, electrical demand and heat demand are also envisaged in the oil and gas sector. Thus, the gas-powered engine will run continuously.

Neshati added that as for the cost of generators to be produced, the cost of these generators, produced in the Netherlands, is at least 23,000 euros. However, the production of this generator in Iran costs 1.2 billion rials (about $2,850).

The official said that if these generators are mass-produced, their cost could be reduced to 800 million rials (about $1,900).

Last day (April 4), RIPI CEO Jafar Tofighi and Alireza Nouri CEO of Aran Energy Systems Company signed an agreement on the production of Micro CHP generator engines.

According to the agreement, these generators will be used in the public sector for 6 months. Based on the results obtained, the probable problems will be eliminated and mass production will begin.
