By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

Several exploration operations are planned to be carried out at the existing fields of Ozenmunaigas JSC operating in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region until 2036, the Investment and Tourism Development Department of the Mangystau region told Trend on Sept. 7.

“Presently, Ozenmunaigas is developing two oil and gas fields (Uzen and Karamandybas) with total initial reserves of 1.1 billion tons,” the department said.

"The initial recoverable reserves amount to 493 million tons,” the department said. “Presently, the company is one of the three leading oil-producing enterprises of the Mangystau region."

Thus, several exploration operations are planned to be carried out at the existing Uzen and Karamandybas fields (Contract #40) of Ozenmunaigas JSC until 2036.

First of all, it is planned to process and interpret the high-resolution seismic exploration of high-resolution 3D seismic exploration by using the common depth point (CDP) method in 2020.

The sedimentological analysis of the Jurassic productive horizons, which started in 2019, will also continue in 2020.

In turn, it is planned to build a geological model for 2021, while it is planned to recalculate hydrocarbon reserves in Jurassic deposits in 2022-2023.

It is also planned to transfer the reserves from C2 to C1 categories, clarify the geological structure with the issuance of a recommendation for additional exploration of unexplored areas of the Karamandybas deposits, as well as study the structure and determine the productivity of the Middle Jurassic deposits of the 18th horizon of the Parsumurun arch of the Uzen deposit and estimate reserves within the geological exploration.
