Georgia sees increase in fuel prices

Fuel prices in Georgian retail chains have risen by an average of 5 tetri (1.53 cents) in recent days, Trend reports via the Union of Oil Importers.

As reported, the reason is high-priced imports in the international market.

In addition, the formation of the fuel price was also influenced by the lari exchange rate against the dollar, as oil importers make purchases mainly in dollars.

According to Platz, the price of gasoline in the international market has increased by $90 and diesel by $100 since the beginning of the month.

In particular, if on November 1 the price of 1 ton of gasoline was $340, as of December 14, its price was fixed at $429.5.

As for the price of diesel, on November 1, a ton of diesel was worth $305.75, while as of December 14, its price was $406.5.

Fuel at branded and non-branded stations became more expensive at the end of November and prices were adjusted in the range of 7-10 tetri (2.14-3.05 cents).

Imports of gasoline and diesel fuel increased by 12,300 tons or 1.2 percent compared to the same period last year (11 months of 2019 - 992,5 00 tons). Imports of gasoline decreased during this period and diesel fuel increased.

From January through November, imports of gasoline fuel to Georgia amounted to 493,700 tons. The decrease compared to the same period last year is 8,200 tons, or 1.6 percent (11 months of 2019 - 501,900 tons). Import of diesel fuel is 511,100 tons, which is 20,500 tons, or 4.2 percent more than last year. (11 months of 2019 - 490,600 tons).
