By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

A total of 200 million euro were paid to investors, as a result of fuel savings in power plants in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Managing Director of Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to Tarztalab, consumption of about 1 billion cubic meters of fuel was saved with the launch of combined cycle power plants in Iran over the last Iranian year.

The director added that Iran had planned to build combined cycle power plants that could generate 7,500 megawatt-hours of electricity with private investments a few years ago.

“Over the past four years, combined cycle power plants with a capacity to generate 3,500 megawatt-hours of electricity have been built. With the launch of other combined cycle power plants, which will generate 3,500 megawatt-hours of electricity, the electrical efficiency of Iran's power plants will increase by 4 percent,” he said.

Reportedly, the electrical efficiency of Iran's thermal power plants is currently 39 percent. This figure is projected to reach 50 percent in 2041.
