KazMunayGas signs agreement to modernize Astrakhan-Mangyshlak main water pipeline

Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas National Company, KazTransOil JSC, Main Waterline LLP and Eurasian Development Bank signed a cooperation agreement on the organization of financing for the project on reconstruction and expansion of the Astrakhan-Mangyshlak main water pipeline, Trend reports citing the KazMunayGas (KMG).

In accordance with this agreement, the final conditions of possible cooperation within the framework of the project will be additionally discussed by the parties.

The Astrakhan-Mangyshlak water pipeline is the only centralized source of water supply for consumers in Kurmangazy, Isataisky and Zhylyoisky districts of the Atyrau region, as well as for the city of Zhanaozen, Beineu, Mangistau, Karakiyansky and Tupkaragan districts of Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region.

In 2020, 28.4 million cubic meters of water was supplied through the main water pipeline. According to the data for 2020, the main share of water supply falls on utilities - 53.8 percent and oil and gas companies - 39.4 percent.

KMG is the Kazakhstan operator for exploration, production, refining and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state interests in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan.
