Iran's petrochemical production grows

The production of petrochemicals in Iran increased by 7 percent during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Iran's National Petrochemical Company’s (NPC) Production Control Manager Jalal Mirhashemi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Mirhashemi, about 16.3 million tons of various petrochemicals were produced in Iran within the 3 months.

The official added that as a result of the work done and the supply of fuel to petrochemical facilities, the production of various petrochemicals has increased in the current Iranian year, as well as, the plan for the export has been implemented by providing local markets.

Reportedly, Iran currently has the potential to produce 100 million tons of petrochemicals per year. In addition, 40 facilities are being built in Iran in order to increase the production potential of petrochemicals. These facilities will be launched by March 20, 2026. As a result, Iran's petrochemical production potential will increase to 135 million tons per year.

Iran exported 25 million tons of petrochemicals worth $10 billion over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021).
