The contract for operation and maintenance of the West Ethylene Pipeline is signed between the National Petrochemical Company of Iran as the owner of the pipeline and the Oil Industries Commissioning and Operation Company (OICO) as the contractor, Trend reports citing SHANA.
The operation, repair, and maintenance of the West Ethylene Pipeline were handed over to the private sector contractor as the first contract of its kind.
Initiated in 2002, the pipeline is to carry ethylene from Assaluyeh, south of Iran, to western provinces of Khuzestan, Lorestan, Chaharmahal Bakhtiari, Kohguiluyeh Boyer Ahmad, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, and West Azerbaijan.
The project has the capacity to carry 3.5 million tons of ethylene.
Phase 2 of the West Ethylene pipeline will feed the petrochemical plants on its way from the natural gas recovered at the South Pars phases.
