Azerbaijan increases electricity production

About 17.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Azerbaijan by all types of power plants from January through August 2021, Trend reports, referring to the report of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

This indicator increased by 7.2 percent, or 260.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, year-on-year.

Azerbaijan's hydroelectric power plants produced 945 million kilowatt-hours of electricity plants from January through August 2021, which is 14.3 percent (116.3 million kilowatt-hours) more than over the same period of 2020.

The TPP generated 15.897 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity – which is 7.2 percent (160.6 million kilowatt-hours) more than from January through August 2020.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan's wind power plants generated 57.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 16.9 percent (11.6 million kilowatt-hours) less than over the same period of 2020.

Solar power plants in the country produced 37.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, which exceeds the indicator of the same period of 2020 by 16.1 percent, or 5.2 million kilowatt-hours.

From January through August 2021, the volume of production and services provided by industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan working in this field increased by 2.6 percent, or 83.4 million manat ($49 million), and reached 32.1 billion manat ($18.8 billion).
