Iran eyes to complete energy project in East Azerbaijan province within 3 years

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan. 24

Iran Energy Ministry plans to complete the semi-finished water projects of East Azerbaijan province within a maximum of three years, Iran's Deputy Energy Minister for Water Affairs Mohammad Javanbakht said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Iran's Deputy Energy Minister for Water Affairs Mohammad Javanbakht made the remarks in a meeting with the governor of East Azerbaijan province.

Javanbakht called the plan to transfer water from Aras River in northwest Iran to Tabriz in East Azarbaijan Province, one of the most important and largest infrastructural projects in the province.

“The length of the water transmission pipeline from Aras River to Tabriz is 140 kilometers, of which about 35 km have been completed,” he said adding that the rest will be completed soon.

He said that the most important and largest infrastructural projects of the East Azerbaijan province, including Khoda Afarin and Qiz-Qalasi dams, have been prioritized and will be operational within a maximum of three years with the required funding.
