Kazakhstan should modernize and expand the gas transportation infrastructure, Trend reports referring to an article in "Oil & Gas of Kazakhstan" analytical magazine.
According to the article, on average, the gas transport infrastructure is worn-out at 75 percent.
“The priority projects of modernizing the gas transportation infrastructure are planned to be implemented in Mangystau and Atyrau districts,” the article said. “Moreover, the country lacks the capacity of main gas pipelines to continue to provide the districts with gas, develop gas export, provide new industrial consumers with gas and implement the gas chemistry projects,” the article said.
According to the article, in this regard, KazTransGas plans to build the second line of the Beineu-Shymkent gas pipeline.
“The government has set the ambitious plans to increase the provision with gas from 53 percent up to 65 percent by 2030,” the article said. “For this purpose, options for providing the North Kazakhstan and Akmola districts, in those parts in which there are no main gas pipelines yet, with gas.”
According to the article, Kazakhstan has every opportunity to create competitive gas chemistry industry.
“New gas chemical production facilities will manufacture products from gas with high added value,” the article said. “As a result, new jobs will be created, foreign exchange earnings for the economy will increase. The national operator interacts with interested investors from China, Russia and European countries in this sphere.”
