BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. Generally, Iran’s Shahid Salimi (Neka) Thermal Power Plant in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) generated over 7.75 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through January 20, 2023), the head of Iran’s Neka Power Generation Management Company Hossein Ali Taziki said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

“Some 79.4 percent of the total electricity generated for the 10 months was accounted for steam units, and 20.6 percent for gas and combined cycle power units,” he said.

During 10 months, the Shahid Salimi TPP fulfilled 80 percent of its annual production plan, Taziki noted.

According to the official, the power plant generated about 679 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the 10th month of the current Iranian year (December 22, 2022, through January 20, 2023) alone. Of this, approximately 653 million kilowatt-hours have been supplied to the country's electricity network.

Iran's Shahid Salimi (Neka) TPP has four steam units, and each of them can generate 440 megawatts of electricity. The thermal power plant also has two gas units, each of which can generate 137.6 megawatts of electricity.

In addition, the TPP has one gas-steam (combined cycle) unit with a capacity of 160 megawatts of electricity and two expansion turbines with a capacity of 9.4 megawatts each.

Iran's Shahid Salimi Neka TPP has the capacity to generate a total of 2,214 megawatts of electricity and accounts for more than 4 percent of electricity generated in Iran.
