BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Japan’s INPEX company will accelerate its participation in exploration activities in the vicinity of the Ichthys Field in Australia in view of expanding the Ichthys onshore production plant in around 2030, the company told Trend.
“We will also continue exploration activities at Onshore Block 4 in Abu Dhabi, as well as in Japan, Southeast Asia and Europe,” said INPEX.
In addition to terrestrial geological surveys, the company utilizes geophysical surveys conducted through satellite images and seismic waves in order to assess the potential subsurface accumulations of oil and natural gas. Furthermore, INPEX drills exploratory wells in order to confirm the presence of oil and gas fields.
Once the presence of oil and natural gas has been confirmed, the company drills an appraisal well to assess the extent of the oil and gas fields and to evaluate the amount of reserves. In addition, INPEX makes comprehensive judgments regarding the commercial viability of the fields such as examining profitability.
The company drill production wells for the production of oil and natural gas. It also constructs gas processing facilities and a transport pipeline, which are necessary for production and shipping.
