BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16. Absheron field in Azerbaijan has yielded a total of 0.4 billion cubic meters of gas from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
The data from the energy ministry shows that the country’s total gas output stood at 36.1 billion cubic meters, showing a year-on-year increase by 1.7 billion cubic meters of 5 percent.
TotalEnergies and partner SOCAR (State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan) have recently announced the start of production of the first phase of development of the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea, around 100 km south-east of Baku.
This first phase connects a subsea production well to a new gas processing platform, itself linked to SOCAR’s existing facilities in Oil Rocks. It has production capacity of 4 million cubic meters of gas per day and 12,000 barrels a day of condensate.
In the given timeframe, Azerbaijan's gas exports totaled 17.8 billion cubic meters, marking a 9 percent increase when compared to the corresponding period in 2022. Europe received 8.6 billion cubic meters, while Türkiye and Georgia received 7.5 billion and 1.7 billion cubic meters, respectively. Notably, the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) was responsible for delivering 4.3 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye.
