The Kazakhstan side hopes, that the forthcoming Astana next meeting on 21-23 September on elaborating the text of the intergovernmental agreement on the joint pumping of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline will be the last one. There are some slight non-principal remarks in the draft of the document, which earlier had been sent to Azerbaijan for consideration from the Kazakhstan’s side, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Andar Shukputov told Trend.

It should be noted, it was planned earlier to hold the meeting in Kazakhstan on 15 September, however, due to the tense schedule of the sides, the meeting was delayed for a week. В"After the approval of the draft agreement the signing of the document between the two governments will take place. There is a special procedure for that: a special government task force is set up, which approves, coordinates and sends the document for signing. The person entrusted by the President or the Prime Minister is to sign the document”, he pointed out. Shukputov has not ruled out, that the country’s Energy Minister will be authorized to sign it from the Kazakhstan’s part. The signing is supposed to be held in Baku.

The “Kashagan” project shareholders committed themselves to pump7,5 million tons of oil through BTC from 2008-2009. The BTC pipeline capacity is 50 million tons of oil a year.
