Georgia to increase budget for Ministry of Environment and Agriculture

The state budget for 2020 for the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia is set at 317 million lari, which means an increase in budget funds by 3 percent compared to 2019, said Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Trend reports with reference to the ministry's message.

“For us it is very important to give priority to supporting our citizens, our farmers and private initiatives. Our development policy is to improve the economic situation in rural areas through private initiatives,” Davitashvili said.

According to him, in 2020, compared with 2019, financing of rural development programs will increase by 36 percent, which will allow to continue the implementation of preferential agricultural loans.

“We support and continue the co-financing programs of processing companies in order to increase employment prospects in rural areas and, therefore, for our citizens. In the field of agricultural insurance, we have increased the budget for the prevention of risks in agriculture,” said the minister.
