Bertelsmann Stiftung foundation will assess political and legal development of Uzbekistan and its future prospects, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.
On 24 February this year, within the framework of the visit of Deputy Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Odilbek Isakov to Germany, a meeting with the leadership of the Bertelsmann Stiftung Foundation was held in Güterslo, the report says.
Bertelsmann Transformation Index is an index report that is published every two years and includes sub-indexes "Governance" and "Status", which assesses the transition of countries to a new level in political and legal direction. The index is also used for reporting by foreign governments, international organizations such as the World Bank and Transparency International.
Such topics as the role of Uzbekistan in this index, large-scale reforms underway in the country and development prospects were discussed.
According to the report for 2018, Uzbekistan ranks 117th out of 129 countries in the Governance Index (2.55 points) and 108th in the Status Index (3.73 points).
The Index is published by compiling analytical data provided by a group of 248 experts selected for each region from the world's leading universities and local institutions.
The experts use the World Bank's annual World Development Indicators and the United Nations Development Program's Human Development Report to develop sub-indicators on institutional governance and status.
In the country assessment, experts rely on 17 figures and 49 indicators, while domestic and foreign experts use questionnaires (1 to 10 points) for each of the 49 indicators.
The Bertelsmann Transformation Index report is expected to be published in March 2020.
