Uzbekistan confirms repayment schedules on ADB loan for solid waste cleaning

The government of Uzbekistan has approved the projected repayment schedules for the principal debt and interest on the ADB (Asian Development Bank) loan to finance the Sustainable Solid Waste Management project, Trend reports referring to Norma.uz information and legal portal.

The ADB Board of Directors on April 17, 2020, approved a $60 million loan to finance the Sustainable Solid Waste Management project with a 5-year grace period for 25 years to improve the household waste management system, develop sanitation infrastructure, and provide the population with high-quality sanitary cleaning services in Uzbekistan.

The total cost of the project is equivalent amounted to $112 million, of which the share of Uzbekistan accounts for $52 million, including in the form of tax and customs benefits - $44.01 million and funds of the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection in the amount of $7.99 million. The project implementation period is five years (2020–2024).

According to the resolution adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers "On Measures to Implement a Project on Sustainable Solid Waste Management with the participation of the Asian Development Bank", technical and economic indicators of the project have been confirmed.

In addition, the government of Uzbekistan confirmed the forecasted repayment schedules of the principal debt and interest on the ADB loan, the roadmap for the implementation of the project, as well as forecast indicators of the coverage of the country with sanitary services as a result of the project.
