The volume of bank cash turnover in Uzbekistan from January through April 2021 amounted to 149.3 trillion soums ($14.2 billion), Trend reports with reference to the data of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

According to the Central Bank, this figure increased by 41.6 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

In particular, the volume of cash receipts to the cash desks of banks in the country amounted to 75.4 trillion soums ($7.1 billion), and the expenditure of cash accounted for 73.9 trillion soums ($7 billion).

In addition, in the first four months, there was an increase in the consumption of cash through the cash desks of banks, including ATMs amounting to 38.5 percent.

“This was mainly due to an increase in the volume of cash withdrawals from bank cards by 1.7 times, or by 10.9 trillion soums ($1 billion), as well as due to an increase in the volume of cash directed to the purchase of foreign currency – by 1.5 times, or by 6.5 trillion soums ($619 million),” the report says.

Also, during this period, 78.4 trillion soums ($7.5 billion) were transferred to bank cards, and 25.9 trillion soums were cashed ($2.5 billion).
