Tehran Stock Exchange keeps upward trend for third consecutive day

TEHRAN, Iran, June 22

The overall index of the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) gained 18,200 points to 1.186 million, on June 22, Trend reports via Fars News Agency.

About 10.5 billion shares valued at $1.7 billion changed hands at TSE for the day.

Over 1.4 billion shares valued at $533 million changed hands at Farabourse on Tuesday. The indices of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industry Co., National Copper Industry Co., Mobarakeh Steel Company, Mellat Bank, Iran Khodro Group Co., Isfahan Refinery Co. and GolGohar Mining & Industrial Co., had the most positive impact in TSE on Tuesday.

Iran's president-elect Ebrahim Raisi expressed his viewpoint on Stock Exchange in his first press conference held on Monday. He went on to say that Iran will bring back the peoples' trust in the country's capital market.

"We will bring back people's trust in the capital market, the government will definitely not use the stock exchange as a resource to finance its budget deficit," he said.

Raisi said the government will look to provide compensation for losses to small share owners by creating necessary guarantees.
