The International Monetary Fund (IMF) plans to allocate about $325 million to Turkmenistan to combat the consequences of the crisis associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, the IMF plans to allocate funds to the countries of the world amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The amount that falls to the share of each member country of the IMF is determined by the reserve unit SDR (Special Drawing Rights), the so-called Special Drawing Rights.
Thus, the share of Turkmenistan accounted for 228 million 700 thousand SDR, which is equal to approximately $325 million.
According to the IMF report, the total amount of SDR allocated to 190 member countries of the organization will amount to about $650 billion. The allocation of funds came into force on 23 August this year.
"The allocation of funds will benefit all member countries, will help meet the long-term global need for reserves, build confidence, the resilience and stability of the global economy," the IMF said.
