The total liabilities of the banking sector in Azerbaijan have grown in the first seven months of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
In accordance with the report, this indicator reached 28.9 billion manat ($17 billion), up by 11.8 percent year on year.
The biggest part (79.1 percent) in the structure of liabilities from January through July of this year accounted for deposits (excluding deposits of financial institutions), the volume of which increased by 18 percent for the year, amounting to over 22.8 billion manat ($13.4 billion).
At the same time, a big part (63.1 percent) accounted for the deposits of legal entities in the amount of 14.4 billion manat ($8.4 billion, increase of 23.2 percent on annual basis), of which 12.12 billion manat ($7.13 billion) accounted for demand deposits.
Individuals' deposits increased by 10 percent, amounting to 8.44 billion manat ($4.96 billion), of which 60.3 percent accounted for term deposits amounting to slightly over five billion manat ($2.9 billion). Deposits of financial institutions made up 1.07 billion manat ($630 million).
The banks' liabilities to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan amounted to 371 million manat ($218.2 million), which is by 11.2 million manat ($6.6 million) less than in the first seven months of 2020. Loro accounts are estimated at 214 million manat ($125.8 million).
The volume of loans from banks and other financial institutions exceeded 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion), growing by 9.2 percent in annual terms.
The issued securities of the country's banks amounted to 876 million manat ($515.3 million), or three percent of the total amount of liabilities, while other liabilities - nearly 1.25 billion manat ($810 million).
From January through July 2021, the total capital of banks has increased by 2.4 percent and equaled 4.77 billion manat ($2.81 billion). At the same time, the own capital reached 4.4 billion manat ($2.6 billion) and capital reserves - 333.8 million manat ($196.3 million).
