BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 17. A current bank account surplus was recorded in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2022, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this indicator increased by $8.4 billion (5.5 times) compared to the first half of last year - from $1.8 billion to $10.3 billion (27.6 percent of Azerbaijan's GDP).

According to the surplus of the current account in the oil and gas sector, an increase of 2.7 times was recorded for the year, up to $12.5 billion. The deficit was recorded in non-oil sector, which increased by 17.9 percent year on year to $2.2 billion.

In the first half of 2022, the volume of foreign trade turnover amounted to $24.8 billion. 9.9 percent of the volume of foreign trade turnover fell on the CIS countries, and 90.1 percent - on other foreign countries.

Previously, the Central Bank forecasted a surplus in the current account of the balance of payments in 2022 at the level of 23-25 ​​percent of GDP.
