Non-cash transactions via terminals and ATMs increasing in Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 8. In the first nine months of this year, Turkmenistan received 11.74 billion Turkmen manat ($3.36 billion) in non-cash payments through terminals, Trend reports.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these figures represent a 21.6 percent rise over the previous year's similar period, which totaled 9.65 billion Turkmen manats ($2.76 billion).

The total amount of non-cash payments made through ATMs was 274.36 million Turkmen manat ($78.53 million), a 39.8 percent increase over the first nine months of 2022 (196.18 million Turkmen manat or $56.15 million).

Simultaneously, the total volume of non-cash payments through terminals in Turkmenistan in 2022 was 13.8 billion Turkmen manats ($3.93 billion), a 27.6 percent increase over the previous year (10.81 billion Turkmen manats or $3.08 billion).

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan's financial sector is undergoing steady growth. Notably, there has been a notable introduction of mobile applications for diverse service and product payments, leading to a rise in electronic transaction volumes. Additionally, the settlement process for goods and services is being streamlined through the integration of banking terminals.
