Azerbaijan's Baku Stock Exchange sees uptick in securities turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The total trading volume at the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), excluding transactions with derivatives, for the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 7.5 billion manat ($4.4 billion), which is 2.3 times higher than the same indicator of the last year, Trend reports.

According to BSE data, the volume of transactions in government securities rose to 2.2 billion manat ($1.2 billion) (up 61 percent).

The share of the corporate sector in the BSE's total trading volume from January through March amounted to 468.3 million manat ($275.1 million) (a 2.1-fold increase).

Additionally, the share of repo transactions in the first quarter increased to 4.8 billion manat ($2.8 billion) (2.5-fold growth).

Meanwhile, the Exchange's capitalization (the value of listed securities) reached 5.7 billion manat ($3.3 billion) at the end of March, which is 15.4 percent more than at the end of 2023.

To note, the BSE's turnover amounted to 27.3 billion manat ($16 billion) in 2023, which is 1.8 times more than the figure for 2022.
